| Interlaboratory comparisons - IRMM Many of the interlaboratory comparisons are open to all laboratories that wish to participate but some are restricted. Proficiency test are normally carried out only on request of another Commission department or agency. Some comparisons are run to certify reference materials and validation studies are organised regularly to validate analysis methods. |

| International Measurement Evaluation Programme (IMEP) - IRMM IMEP provides support to EU policies and the chemical measurement system of the enlarged EU assisting in the development of the national measurement systems. The common goal is to prove the reliability of measurement results. All laboratories can participate in the regular IMEPs. | Regular European Interlaboratory Measurement Evaluation Programme (REIMEP) Regular European Interlaboratory Measurement Evaluation Programme (REIMEP) was started by IRMM in 1982 for carrying out external control of the quality of the measurements of the nuclear fuel cycle materials. In REIMEP campaigns samples matching materials analysed routinely in the nuclear fuel cycle are sent to participating laboratories for measurements and to date 16 REIMEP campaigns have been organised, which involved safeguards laboratories throughout the world. |
